Brothers

Dear diary,

Growing up as the only girl among four boys, I have learnt to realise that there ain't no bond like a brotherly bond.  I must have realised this as a young Lav because I tried to be a boy growing up.  I cut my own hair, would partake in 'punch fights' and I even tried to do a stand up wee.  It never worked because I am and have always been, despite my efforts, a girl.  I like long hair, makeup, heels, pink and sparkly things.  You could not get more girly than I if you tried!

Back to the brotherly bond; these two are a prime example of this.  They're four years apart, yet they share everything together.  They fight like brothers, but they love like brothers.  It's a privilege to see them be so tight.

Presents

Dear diary,

Friends are the best when they're the type that give you presents...

Not in a shallow way, you! I meant thoughtful presents that mean something to you. You know, presents that took them a while to do.  That have some thought put into it.  Presents that say "I was thinking about you" or "you mean a lot to me, so I made this by hand" Those kind of presents.

This is one of those.

Thank you Hannah xx

Relax spot

Dear diary,

In my room, I have created a relax spot. I love it and now I think everyone should get one! I'm lucky enough to have a window where I can also sit in, so I pimped it out and put in my pink blanket, and a few fluffy pillows. I use this for when I want to sit and gaze out the window, read my bible or just get away from everything else. Also, I can close the curtains, so I've really shut myself out and I can be closed off and alone. Sometimes you just need alone time, eh?

Introvert for the win! ;)

That weirdo with four colors in her hair..

Dear diary,

The roomate, Lizzie, and I had a hairdyeparty! We do this thing when we both go a little crazy and decide to dye bits of our hair funny colours. Usually it's just dipdying it bright colours (she did hers purple). This time though, I put in stripes. I felt like something a little different, so I went with it! Because it's semi permanent it's only there for 6 weeks at the most, so I can go as crazy as I want and I can change it up as much as I want.
I put in random purple, pink and green highlights all over. It actually looks really cool and I'm so happy with the results. I love hairdyeparties!

Productivity? Naaaaaah!

Dear diary,

Today was supposed to be a work day. It was a day supposed to consist of essay writing. It was a day supposed to be filled with productivity. But my stomach cramps came out to say hello (ladies, I'm sure you understand!), and I decided against it at 10:00am this morning. Instead, I drank lots of apple and cinnamon tea, ate chocolate and watched New Girl in my superman pajamas with a hot water bottle. Brilliant.

Maybe productivity day will start tomorrow? Fingers crossed...

Passing Notes

Dear diary,

Jon slid this note to me whilst we were in lecture, to which I ticked and slid back. What a cutie. You'd never guess we were both adults.

Before and After

Dear diary,

I just found these two pictures. This is my bedroom at home home (i.e. not my Uni home), and the left is before I tidied, the right is after. So glad I got myself organised!

Watch

Funny story about this watch.. I had it because it was the only one I could find that didn't have a clasp, and I had to have one without a clasp, otherwise I won't wear it because I am lazy. I can never be bothered to mess around with a clasp thing. So because of my laziness, I had to result to a child's one. This one was fine, except for the mighty flaw that was when the glass fell out. Didn't crack, I didn't hit it, it just fell. The whole thing. Never to be found again. I miss that watch. RIP barbz.

Yes dear...

I was talking to Jon, and I said, "are you going to make sure you do that?!"

His reply was to pass me this sweet. Cheeky whatsit!

It's all about point of view.

Dear diary,

I read this, and I loved it. You can always find a good side in something, you can always find a bad side in something. Choose wisely, and decide for yourself :)

Memory lane: Burglars

Friday 15th October 2010, I walked home from school. It was around half one in the afternoon and, having done a hard week of AS’s, I was looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
A quiet, serene house greeted me, which was strange as it was used to being filled with six of us, four being boys.
I put on my big fluffy slippers, that made me feel as though I was springing on clouds, and I entered down the hallway, black and white snapshots of my grandparents on the wall to the right, and a window to the left, showing the outside world. The outside didn’t matter anymore. I was in my safe place.  I was comfortable. I was secure. I was stress free.
I shuffled into the sitting room, and plonked myself on the brown leather sofa wishing Mum hadn’t got these naff sofas, and that we still had the old cream sofas that you could just sink into. I wrapped my pink fluffy blanket around me, and snuggled up, grabbing the remote to watch any old rubbish that daytime tv would offer me.

KNOCK. Someone was at the door. Being home alone, and the scaredy cat I am, I quietly tiptoed up the stairs making sure to miss the stair that creaks. I glanced out of the upstairs window at the front of the house, and sure enough, there was a man standing at the front door, in a dark crease-free suit. I could see the top of his head through his thinning dark hair. I silently backed away from the window thinking that he probably wanted to sell something to me and if I just kept quiet, he would think there was no one in, leave, and then I could resume back to my safe place.

I waited for silence, for a sign that the man was gone, but instead I heard lots of banging. It was strange as though someone was knocking on the windows downstairs. I then heard my dog barking in a way I’d never heard him bark. It was loud, erratic and odd, like he was trying to warn me of something.

I walked into my mum’s room, and looked through her window to the back garden, which was usually peaceful, adorned with many different flowers and abandoned footballs. Usually.

This time there were two men, one was the man I’d seen at the front door, and the other was wearing a black puffa jacket, and a black woolly hat to match.
I backed away from the window, panicking and breathing heavily. I grabbed the nearest phone. I then heard an almighty crash, men’s voices and then creaking on the stairs. They were coming up.

I ran into the nearest bathroom, and locked it behind me, making sure to breathe as quietly as possible…

P.s, this isn't April fools, it genuinely did happen to me. I'm ok though, so it's all ok :)
